CHICAGO, IL - May 19, 2003 - InStep Software, LLC, InStep Software, LLC, a Chicago-based provider of engineering software solutions today announced its partnership with Korea Electric Power Data Network Co., Ltd.(KDN), a Korean-based solutions provider and systems integrator. KDN is recognized as a leader in technology based solutions for the Korean power industry.
Already well-entrenched in the Korean power industry, KDN sought a partner company with a data-centric product to increase its offering to the newly created major electric power generation companies in Korea. The Korean government uniformly restructured the energy industry, with the imminent plan to privatize electricity. In account to the proposed deregulation plans, KDN along with ABB Inc., were awarded the order of the TWBP MOS (Two Way Bidding Pool Market Operation System) project to deliver the necessary software and solutions needed to successfully establish and maintain an open energy market.
After researching the data historian industry, KDN selected InStep Software and its flagship product, eDNA, to provide the historian backbone of the KDN solution. eDNA from InStep is a suite of real-time information management solutions based on the core product, a real-time data historian that captures, analyzes and stores real-time data by monitoring equipment and business systems, enabling optimal decision support for increased productivity and efficiency.
InStep Software president, John Kalanik said, "We feel that this partnership is a key relationship for expanding our eDNA product line into the international arena. It was clear to us that KDN represented a company with a legacy in the Korean power industry, brought a variety of experiences to the table and possessed an inherent familiarity with the deregulation process in that country. All of these factors led us to quickly determine that this relationship was sure to be a winner for both companies."
KDN executive director, Jung-Gil Choi said of the partnership, "The need for a data historian has been increased because it is essential for business process and engineering activities in the upcoming deregulated energy industry as well as in the present energy industry. Now, we have the right business partner at the right time."
