CHICAGO, IL - Feb. 5, 2008 - InStep Software, LLC, a leading provider of real-time software systems and solutions, announced today that Progress Energy has implemented InStep's PRiSM software to support Progress Energy's Centralized Performance Monitoring initiative.
InStep's PRiSM technology monitors Progress Energy's entire fleet of fossil assets to provide advanced early warning notification of potential equipment problems or failure. PRiSM uses advanced cluster based reasoning to identify process variations that would be virtually impossible to detect otherwise. The PRiSM software seamlessly integrates with Progress Energy's existing historian infrastructure for reliable and secure access to plant information.
InStep Software President John Kalanik says, "Progress
Energy is recognized in the utility industry as a leader in reliably
operating their fleet of power plants. We are very pleased to have such a
key role in supporting this initiative."
Progress Energy's Program Manager Bernie Cook says, "InStep's PRiSM
product has become a critical part of our Fossil Monitoring and Diagnostic
Center which is integrating several advanced diagnostic tools focused at
early detection of equipment problems. Prism's ability to quickly develop
models has allowed us to reduce our fleet implementation plan from a matter
of years to a matter of months."
