CHICAGO, IL - August 22, 2007 - InStep Software, LLC, a
leading provider of real-time software systems and solutions, announced
today that Exelon has implemented InStep's PRiSM software as the foundation
for Exelon's Centralized Performance Monitoring initiative.
InStep's PRiSM technology monitors Exelon's entire
fleet of nuclear assets to provide advanced early warning notification of
potential equipment problems or failure.
PRiSM uses advanced cluster based reasoning to identify process
variations that would be virtually impossible to detect otherwise.
The PRiSM software seamlessly integrates with Exelon's existing
historian infrastructure for reliable and secure access to the plant
information.
InStep software President
John Kalanik says, "It is quite satisfying when an industry
leader like Exelon chooses your technology for such a key initiative.
We have always highly valued our relationship with Exelon and are
truly excited about their expanded use of our software."
When Exelon decided to fund the formation of a
Centralized Performance Monitoring team the team project manager was tasked
with selecting the product that would be used to monitor systems at 17
nuclear units, 24 hrs a day.
Five products from five companies were evaluated and screened over a six
month period. Two final products
were installed and tested by the team over a two week period and InStep's
PRiSM technology was chosen.
Exelon's Program Manager Christopher Demars says, "The
product excelled in the ease of system model development, alarm creation and
management, and post alert analysis of the primary contributing parameters.
Most important however is the working relationship with InStep.
The staff at InStep has been instrumental in turning the Centralized
Performance Monitoring team into a high performance group.
From initial training to product enhancements, the InStep staff has
exceeded expectations."
