John B. Kalanik, Jr. - President
John Kalanik, as President and founding partner of InStep Software, is responsible for the strategic direction of the company. With over 20 years of software industry experience and a long-time passion for software development, he has led InStep through 15 years of growth. John is responsible for creating partnerships and strategic alliances that support and expand on the company's vision. In addition, he is actively involved in InStep's research and development and helps guide the ongoing innovation and quality initiatives for the company's products.
Before founding InStep Software, John held various management positions at Sargent
& Lundy where he was responsible for large-scale engineering and software development projects in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Prior to Sargent & Lundy, John worked for Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratories in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he completed coursework in nuclear engineering at Bettis Reactor Engineering School.
John Kalanik earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and an
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Anthony C. Maurer - Executive Vice President
Anthony Maurer, as Executive Vice President of Technology and founding partner of InStep Software, is responsible for setting the product strategy for InStep's core software solutions. As a controls engineer with more than 20 years experience in software design and development, Anthony is shaping the future for InStep's products.
Prior to forming InStep, Anthony led numerous large-scale engineering and software development projects in a variety of roles including project manager, lead software design engineer, programmer, and analyst. Anthony has been involved in the implementation of many enterprise software deployments and nuclear safety-related real-time systems.
Anthony Maurer graduated from the University of Illinois with a
Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering. He received a Master of
Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
James H. Chappell - Executive Vice President
James Chappell, as Executive Vice President and founding partner of InStep Software, is responsible for overseeing and guiding the operations, delivery and services arm of the company. This includes value-added consulting, system installation, integration, technical support, quality assurance and training. With over 20 years of experience in engineering and software development, he has extensive experience with enterprise system deployments for
Fortune 500 companies within the Power and Telecom industries with an emphasis on real-time data management and asset health based analytics.
Prior to InStep, Jim served as a Naval Officer where he was trained to command and control nuclear power plants, including reactor safety operations and nuclear emergencies. In other capacities, Mr. Chappell was responsible for managing and supervising computer system engineering projects for numerous high-level naval commands, including the Pacific Commander-in-Chief. As Director of Information Systems for his command, he developed and networked decision support systems that have been used to manage over $1/2 billion in engineering and construction contracts.
Jim Chappell graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY, where he received his
Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering. He earned a Master of
Science in nuclear engineering from the Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, FL, and a MBA from Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition, he graduated from the Civil Engineer Corps Officer's School (CECOS) in Port Hueneme, CA.
Robert M. Lacy - Vice President, Operations
Bob Lacy, as Vice President of Operations, has executive and operational management responsibilities for InStep. With over 20 years of leadership experience, Bob is responsible for directing the product development, project implementation, technical support, quality assurance and training groups at InStep Software. Bob has been with InStep Software for over eight years.
Prior to InStep Software, Bob was an executive in the wireless
telecommunications industry and EVP of a technology start-up.
Bob Lacy is a CPA with a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration and a MBA from Saint Louis University.
Sean P. Gregerson - Director of Sales
Sean Gregerson, as Director of Sales and Marketing, is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and leading InStep's business development team. He has been with InStep Software since 2003 and has successfully led InStep into the T&D enterprise data management, smart grid, and predictive analytics markets. Sean was a recipient of the 2008 Nuclear Top Industry Practice award.
Prior to InStep Software, Sean held business development and control system design engineer positions with a leading automation company.
Sean Gregerson received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Bradley University.
