eDNA Billing Solution (EBS)

EBS streamlines utility billing and cost allocation processes while greatly improving the reliability and accuracy of information. EBS was designed to meet the complex utility accounting needs of a large university with 100s or 1,000s of buildings and accounts spread across multiple campus locations. EBS uses a highly flexible cost allocation structure ensuring direct access to meter, account, building, and defined group cost and consumption information.

EBS can be integrated with existing business systems and automated meter reading/data collection devices, or the system can be operated as a stand-alone solution. All utilities can be accounted for, including electricity, water, metered gas, bulk gas, chilled water, fuel oil and steam. EBS also interfaces to eDNA, InStep's leading real-time data historian. With eDNA, EBS becomes the Energy Efficiency Management (EEM) system. eDNA collects all meter information and other pertinent energy management data through the building control systems.

EBS manages the following utility billing processes:

  • Account Management
  • Purchased Utility Processes
  • Generated Utility Processes
  • Monthly Billing
  • Annual Reporting
  • General Reporting

EBS Web Reporting
The EBS Web Reporting module extends utility cost and consumption information across the enterprise by allowing users to view this information through a standard web browser. With the proper security authorization, users can view utility data in a series of reports and trends.

Streamline Utility Cost Accounting
EBS allows the user to reconcile utility bills, validate utility information, and automate the billing cycle. EBS provides quick and easy access to the data required for customized reports. With EBS, invoices and reports are automatically generated ensuring reliable and accurate processing of utility information.

Cost Allocation
EBS uses a highly flexible cost allocation structure that includes the ability to allocate costs at the building, tenant, department, or group level. EBS allows for a virtually unlimited combination of primary and sub-metering and includes the ability to define account splits based on square footage or percent allocation. Virtual meters are configurable to support simple or complex utility usage estimates for automated billing of non-metered locations and locations that are a subset of a metered location.

Automate Billing Process and Financial Analysis

  • Tenant billing via invoice or general ledger interface
  • Track Usage according to Tenant, Meter, Fund
  • Report usage based on Meters, Sub-Meters, Virtual Meters, Calculation Meters
  • Generate Detailed Reports
  • Validate Utility Bills
  • Compare Historical and Current Energy Consumption
  • Analyze impact of proposed rate schedule changes

InStep's EBS utility billing software consolidates and manages the utility metering, billing, and reporting processes. Manage your utility processes with our EBS product.
